I found this little guy at my front door. He must have crashed.
He's a black-chinned hummingbird. So I named him BC.
He was pretty dehydrated and overheated. I picked
him up and put him in a critter cage to help him rest...
and found some shade for a drink.
Yummmmyyy... he was thirsty.
Cute little guy, huh?
Dr. Wrexie isn't thinkin' he's feelin' too good though.
I put him in a planter that was cool...hoping he'd recover...
and I'd have a happy story to share.
...but he just laid down... and went to sleep.
RIP BC

He didn't die alone. He felt safe enough to relax and let it happen. It could have been old age or anything. But the important thing is, he wasn't alone.
Funny you said that... when he was struggling to drink, a fly buzzed by. He must have thought it was another hummer...because he perked up. I had that same thought... that no creature wants to die alone.
Wrexie...

Thanks :)
...oh, life is so fragile.
It's amazing how fast a beautiful moment can pass...or be missed. Even though it was a sad and only lasted minutes, it touched me so...
lessons learned from wars....nobody wants to die alone.
...better with somebody nice close. a nice touching hand...like yours mam.

Kira: No one should be alone to die...and especially not a warrior.
